主讲人简介
Prof. Brian M. Stoltz attended graduate school at Yale University under the direction of John L. Wood. While at Yale, Brian completed the total syntheses of indolocarbazoles K252c, (+)-K252a, etc. After receiving his Ph.D. in 1997, Brian moved to Harvard as an NIH postdoctoral fellow with Prof. E. J. Corey where he developed an enantioselective synthetic route of nicandrenone natural products. Brian accepted a position at Caltech in 2000, where he is now Victor and Elizabeth Atkins Professor of Chemistry and a Heritage Medical Research Institute Investigator. His research group studies the design and development of new strategies in complex molecule synthesis.
讲座简介
The Stoltz group has been heavily involved in the synthesis of complex natural products such as the cyanthiwigins, quinocarcin, lemonomycin, and the dragmacidins. These naturally occurring molecules possess promising biological properties ranging from activity against antibiotic-resistant bacteria, to antiproliferative, to anti-HIV action. Furthermore, they are structurally novel and are inherently a challenge to the state-of-the-art in synthetic chemistry. In the process of completing the synthesis of these important compounds, we have developed a number of new methods that enabled their access. These topics will be discussed in the lecture.
