主讲人简介

Xile Hu (B.S. Peking University; Ph.D., UC San Diego; Postdoc, Caltech) is currently a full professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and the co-founder and chairman of the startup company NovaMea. He directs an interdisciplinary research program to develop chemistry that has a potential societal impact, for example, sustainable and efficient methods to make bio-active compounds, non-precious electrocatalysts and fluorine-free membranes for renewable energy conversion and storage, as well as improved electrochemical devices. He is highly cited researcher by Clarivate Analytics every year since 2017 till today. In 2017 he received the Swiss Science Prize Latsis, the highest Swiss award for a researcher under 40. He is a Fellow of European Academy of Sciences and a Member of the Academia Europaea.

讲座简介

Catalysis has an important role in green and sustainable chemistry. The notion of cooperative catalysis, whereby more than one chemical entities work together to catalyze a chemical process, has gained momentums in recent years. Such cooperative catalysis may bring in new tools in catalyst design, and may overcome limitations of single-site catalysis. In this presentation I will describe several recent examples of our work covering cooperative catalysis in the three separate domains of catalysis: molecular, bio, and hetereogeneous (electro) catalysis. I hope to demonstrate cooperative catalysis as a universal design principle for all types of catalysts.
