主讲人简介
Dr. Daniel Timmer is currently a postdoc at Philipps University Marburg, Germany. He is working in ultrafast time-resolved spectroscopy with a focus on experiments that investigate the coherent regime of excitonic and polaritonic quantum systems on a sub-100-fs time scale. He completed his PhD with Prof. Christoph Lienau at University of Oldenburg, Germany, in 2024. During his PhD, Timmer developed several two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy experiments and mainly focused on probing the ultrafast and coherent response of exciton polaritons. In Marburg, working with Prof. Marcel Reutzel since May 2026, he wants to apply coherent and multidimensional spectroscopy schemes to time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. His work has been published in Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Optica, JACS, ACS Nano, etc.
讲座简介
Exciton polaritons, hosted in e.g. microcavities or plasmonic nanostructures, are hybridized light-matter excitations that offer great potential for quantum applications. Their characteristic ultrafast and oscillatory transfer of energy between the constituent systems occurs on a 10s of fs time scale. Following the coherent and incoherent flow of energy in such systems is therefore challenging and requires suitable experimental techniques. One of the most powerful optical approaches is two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2DES). In this talk, 2DES is introduced and experimental results are discussed for different polaritonic systems. Made possible by the high 10-fs experimental time resolution, 2DES allows to follow coherent oscillatory dynamics as well as rapid incoherent decay of the polariton excitations, giving new and deep insights into the microscopic details of polariton nonlinearities.
